Start with one worked example
Gold costs £7.50 a month at the current half price. That is £90 a year. A Gold member pays from £75 an hour; the London figure we compare against is about £120. So every hour of work saves £45.
Four hours of work in a year costs a Gold member £300 instead of £480. That is £180 saved against a £90 plan, so the plan is £90 ahead. Two hours and it has paid for itself exactly. One hour and you are £45 down.
Gold also includes one free certificate a year and 15% off any others. An EICR starts at £80, so that free certificate is worth roughly what the plan costs. For a landlord buying a certificate anyway, the sums tilt before a single hour is booked.
Break-even, plan by plan
Annual cost divided by the hourly saving against £120. Plans are half price until 30 September 2026, so both sets of figures are shown.
| Plan | A year, at half price | A year, normal price | Saved per hour | Break-even now | Break-even at normal price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | £42 | £83.88 | £40/hr | About 1 hour | About 2 hours |
| Silver | £60 | £119.88 | £40/hr | About 1.5 hours | About 3 hours |
| Gold | £90 | £179.88 | £45/hr | About 2 hours | About 4 hours |
| Platinum | £156 | £311.88 | £45/hr | About 3.5 hours | About 7 hours |
Two caveats. The saving depends on the £120 comparison figure, so if the trades you use charge less, the gap narrows. And the table counts the hourly rate only, which pushes the real break-even later than it is.
What the table leaves out
These are kept out of the break-even figures so the arithmetic is not flattered. They are real all the same.
At least one free certificate a year
An EICR starts at £80 and a gas safety certificate starts at £80, so one free certificate can be worth a whole year of Bronze, Silver or Gold. Platinum includes four.
5% to 20% off other certificates
From 5% on Bronze to 20% on Platinum. On one £80 certificate that is a few pounds; across a portfolio it adds up.
No call-out fees
On every plan. It matters most for small jobs not worth a separate call-out charge, which are exactly the jobs people put off.
Priority booking and welcome credits
Next-day priority on Bronze and Silver, same-day on Gold and Platinum, plus £100 to £400 in welcome credits as ten vouchers.
When a plan is not worth it
- You call a tradesperson once every few years. A plan costs the same whether you use it or not, so a quoted job or the £120 trial visit will be cheaper.
- You want one specific job done and nothing else. Ask for a quote for that job instead.
- You would not use the certificate. It is most of the value on the cheaper plans, and worth nothing if you have nothing to certify.
- You are unsure about the term. The first month is risk-free, but after that plans run on a 12-month minimum.
When it usually does pay
- You let a property. Rented homes in England need the electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years, and each landlord-provided gas appliance and flue checked every 12 months.
- You own an older property. Older places generate small jobs, and small jobs are where a call-out fee stings.
- You manage more than one property. Certificate discounts matter more the more doors you have.
- You already spend two or three hours of trade time a year. That is where Gold pays for itself on the hourly rate alone.
What you are committing to
The first month is risk-free. After that, plans run on a 12-month minimum term, so read the table above as a year's spend rather than a monthly one. Bronze at the current price is £42 over that year. Platinum is £156.
If that looks like a stretch for the work you actually have, pay per job. We quote non-member work individually, and the trial visit is £120. Nobody needs a plan to book us.
Questions people ask before joining
Is a maintenance plan actually worth it?
It depends on how much work you have. Gold costs £7.50 a month at the current half price, which is £90 a year, and saves £45 an hour against the £120 figure we compare against. Two hours of work covers it. Less than that and it does not.
How did you work out the break-even hours?
Annual cost divided by the hourly saving. Gold at £90 a year, saving £45 an hour against £120, breaks even at two hours. The free certificate, the discount and the welcome credits are all on top and are not counted.
What if I do not use the plan?
Then you have spent the monthly fee for nothing, minus whatever the free certificate is worth. We would rather say that than let you find out a year in.
Can I just pay per job?
Yes. Non-member work is quoted job by job, and there is a one-off trial visit at £120 if you want to see how we work first.
Which plan makes sense for a single flat I live in?
Bronze or Silver, if any. At the current half price they break even at about one to one and a half hours a year. Gold and Platinum suit people with more to look after.
Which plan makes sense for a landlord?
Usually Gold or Platinum. Gold has a 15% certificate discount and same-day priority booking; Platinum has 20%, four free certificates a year, an annual property MOT and key holding.
What is not included?
Membership changes the hourly rate and the certificate price. It does not turn bigger jobs into fixed prices. A rewire, a bathroom or a boiler swap is still quoted after we have seen it.

Every confirmed price sits on the pricing page. The plans, with everything each one includes, are on membership. If you let a property, start with landlord certificates and work out what you buy each year before comparing plans.
The inspection intervals mentioned on this page are taken from the GOV.UK guidance Electrical safety standards in the private and social rented sectors and the HSE guidance on gas safety for landlords, both last checked on 12 September 2026. Prices and the £120 comparison figure are current at that date and can change. This is a summary written to be useful, not legal or financial advice, and landlords remain responsible for confirming their own obligations.
